Do you consider your reporting manager as your mentor?

 I was talking to a friend and she kept comparing what I was saying with her manager. She believe all managers just say things which are complete bullshit and nothing good comes out of thier mouth. From my end I was completely logical and honest and saying from my experience. I observed she is not alone, everyone does that because of 2 reasons 

1. People don't trust thier managers.

2. People think it's manager's job to lecture and ignore him as much as possible. 

3. Usually managers have more experience and managers talk based on thier experience and it's difficult to understand the same without personally having those experiences. 

I am not claiming all managers are honest and/or always corect but sometime when they are honest and correct and try to help us, we ignore them because of above reasons.
